Council has secured $7.3 million from the Federal Government, under its Housing Support Program, to build crucial enabling infrastructure that will support the development of up to 90 new homes in Ararat.
Located at the former Prestige Fabric Mill site on Queen Street in Ararat, the project will unlock housing affordability, with 70 percent of the new dwellings allocated for social, community, and affordable housing.
Residential lot sizes will average around 300-400m2, providing a wide range of housing options to meet diverse community needs.
As part of the federal funding, Ararat Rural City Council will be responsible for building the following infrastructure:
- Internal roads
- Drainage
- Pathways
- Streetlights
- Utilities
The land is owned by a private developer who will build and sell the homes and Council's role in securing this major funding will expedite this critical housing development project for the Ararat region.
