The Ararat Rural City Council has completed the childcare demand and feasibility study in Lake Bolac and the surrounding areas. This initiative aimed to:

  • Gather information on the likely demand for childcare places, including days and times that care is likely to be needed
  • Gauge how much families are able to pay for childcare services, taking into account childcare subsidies.

This initiative also looked at Outside of School Hours Care services (OSHC), occasional care and school holiday care programs.

The Lake Bolac & Surrounds Childcare Demand & Feasibility Study Final Report was presented to Ararat Rural City Councillors at the Council Meeting on Tuesday 30 April 2024. The Final Report was used to liaise with private and not-for-profit sectors to deliver the new childcare centre in Lake Bolac.

The childcare provider, Ararat Early Learning Centre Pty Ltd, and developer, E2E Growth Consultants Pty Ltd, have agreed to work together to progress plans for the new Childcare Centre.

On 16 August 2024, registrations opened for families who wish to enrol their children into the future Lake Bolac Childcare Centre. The registration details will enable the childcare provider to begin the process of planning how the service would operate to best meet the education and care needs of the children, and to begin developing the workforce that will be necessary to deliver the services. The childcare provider and developer are aiming for an official opening date in late 2025. This timeframe is subject to planning and service approvals.

A minimum number of registrations are needed to ensure the childcare centre can be viable. If your family requires childcare in Lake Bolac from late 2025 onwards, please register as soon as possible and preferably by 30 September 2024.
