Ararat Pony Club New Covered Sports Arena

$1.49 million has been allocated for the construction of a covered equine arena for the Ararat Pony Club, complete with lighting, to provide a climate-controlled riding space that is protected from rain and sunlight.

The new arena will meet the needs of local women and girls, support increased sport and physical activity opportunities all year round in all weather, and help them reach their full potential.

The new facilities will also benefit a broad range of other users, including the Mount Cole Equestrian Association, Midland Zone of Pony Club Victoria, nearby pony clubs and other horse-related activities, as well as other sports, community and educational initiatives.

Council officers have worked through the necessary groundwork for the project. A feature survey and geotechnical investigation have been completed, ensuring that the foundations and layout are well designed to meet the long-term needs of the Pony Club and its members.

Two preliminary layout plans were presented to the Club, with members confirming their preferred site layout. Specifications for the project tender are now being finalised, with the tender expected to open in late August or early September. Once a contractor is appointed, detailed design work will follow before construction begins.

The project is supported by the Federal Government’s Play Our Way program.
